DiaSorin, a global leader in automated diagnostic instruments, used Statwolf’s data science expertise to predict maintenance faults in a cost effect and efficient manner.

Objective

DiaSorin is a global leader in fully automated diagnostic instruments. DiaSorin needed to improve support service performed by:

Minimising exit on-call to reduce customer’s discomfort; optimising resources, effort and time to improve cost savings; and reducing time-to-fix to speed up service operations.

The Solution

Statwolf zeroed in on faults that are frequent and/or expensive to fix in order to optimise efforts and costs. On the back of this, Statwolf created a predictive maintenance solution with algorithm creation, a feasibility study, and the integration of the solution in the client’s IoT system.

Result

The predictive algorithms Statwolf created were able to predict 30 percent of the total faults. The solution has a false positive rate of < 3 percent, meaning it is highly reliable. Predictions occurred between 5 and 20 days before the fault happened, allowing the client to address potential issues.
